Joy Kids Learning Center Announces Expansion
The child care center has announced plans to acquire a nearby center to expand its class sizes and offerings.

After nearly two years of serving community day care needs in Edgewater, Joy Kids Learning Center will be expanding in early spring 2014, allowing the center to offer child care to even more local families.
To make the expansion possible, Joy Kids will acquire a 100 percent interest in another local day care facility, Kids Farm-Mayo, located at 1133 Carrs Wharf Rd. in Edgewater.
"This expansion will allow us to grow by giving some of our existing families an option to move to the Mayo location, if they want, and open up additional capacity in both centers," Joy Kids owner Melissa Fullerton said in a press release.
Fullerton, along with friend and co-owner Kenneth Graham, told Patch last fall that they were looking to expand, as their business had rapidly growing. In September, the business was already seeing a wait list for some classes and limited openings in others.
"Our current center at 35 Mayo Road has been operating for nearly 2 years and is operating almost at capacity. Our 2-and 3-year-old room is full and we have three spaces left in our 4-and 5-year-old room," Fullerton said in the press release.
Joy Kids expects its acquisition of Kids Farm-Mayo to close by March 31. This acquisition will not affect the Kids Farm located on 1118 W. Central Ave. in Davidsonville.
The center will be holding open houses for prospective families from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 at 35 Mayo Rd. in Edgewater. Joy Kids is located on the campus of Joy Reigns Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall. For more information, visit the center's website or call 443-837-6001.
