Local Love Stories: Blind Date Turned Into Love

"He always makes me feel special, plans date nights, supports me in all I do, takes care of our family and always makes everything better."

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to share their love stories. It all started with a blind date for these two lovebirds.

Whether you’re a fan of Valentine’s Day or the thought of red and pink decorations makes you want to puke, we’ve got a hunch everyone could use some happy news this month. And what’s happier than a love story?

We asked Patch readers on Facebook to share their local love stories — how they met, where it all went down, and what’s kept them together. Here’s the story of Stephanie and Rick who were set up on a dinner date and have been together ever since.

My husband Rick and I met through a blind date set up by my younger sister. She was dating a guy (Sean) from Gonzaga College High School and I had several failed relationships. My sister said, "I met one of Sean's friends one time and he seems great, but he lives in Denver, Colorado."

When he came back to this area four months later, she set up a dinner and we went on a double date. She married Sean and I married Rick. Now the high school friends get to hang out at family gatherings!

My partner is special because he puts me first in all situations. He always makes me feel special, plans date nights, supports me in all I do, takes care of our family and always makes everything better. We have two boys and he always works so hard to make everything okay for our family!

Our secret to a very happy marriage is having date nights once a month. We communicate very well and are affectionate everyday!
