Opioid Crisis Focus Of South County Rotary Meeting Open To Public
Maryland Patient Safety Center will share information on the opioid crisis at a Davidsonville public meeting.

DAVIDSONVILLE, MD — The staff of Maryland Patient Safety Center will talk about the state's opioid crisis at a special meeting of the South Anne Arundel Rotary Club. The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Killarney House Restaurant, 584 West Central Ave. in Davidsonville.
Maryland Patient Safety Center has recently launched a statewide opioid addiction education initiative:
- The education program is aimed at increasing the general public's understanding of the issues surrounding opioid use and abuse more fully and educating and informing patients and health consumers.
- The statewide program will include presentations in all of Maryland's 23 counties, Baltimore City, and Washington, D.C. They've partnered with service clubs, churches, and other organizations across the area.
- Along with better understanding the causes of the opioid epidemic, the program will help residents be more informed consumers or patients, and help individuals who may be battling addiction.
The main speaker will be Dr. Drew Fuller, who will take questions as time allows and share his knowledge and experience. Fuller is a critical care and emergency medicine specialist in Baltimore and is affiliated with Calvert Memorial Hospital. He received his medical degree from University of Florida College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
