Anne Arundel County Police officers freed a kitten trapped in a car engine, and the feline has likely found a new home. With cool temps Thursday morning, the cat likely headed for a wam engine to cuddle up with, commenters said after the police department posted about the rescue on Facebook.

Southern District officers Corporal Beall, Corporal Gibbons and Officer Hulkenberg responded to a call that a kitten was trapped in the engine compartment of a parked vehicle. They were able to free the cutie and take her to Animal Care & Control for a checkup.

"The best part? The owners of the vehicle are hoping to adopt this lucky kitten from Animal Care and Control," the department said on Facebook.

Commenters praised the department for lending a hand. "Anne Arundel Co has the BEST police officers!!" said one.

And one resident noted that when it gets cold out, animals head into engine compartments to shelter and warm up, so it's a good idea to check under the hood or knock on it to try and scare them away before starting the engine.
