EDGEWATER, MD — Officials said an Edgewater house fire displaced two adults, two children and four cats on May 6. Neighbors spotted the fire across the street and called 911 after hearing an explosion, the press release noted.

Firefighters added that they arrived to the 200 block of Galewood Drive around 3:07 a.m. They reported finding flames near the natural gas meter on the front of the home. Investigators do not know if the blaze started at the meter or only involved it. First responders shut off the gas and fanned the flames, the write-up advised.

Crews explained that the fire extended to the garage and the living area above it. A team of 27 informed that it controlled the blaze in 30 minutes. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department mentioned that the Annapolis Fire Department helped its response.
