Snow Storm Fighters Called 'Unsung Heroes' By County Officials
Emergency workers were formally thanked for keeping a vigilant watch over the county during this week's snow storm.
After Anne Arundel County got between 4-8 inches of snow Tuesday, emergency workers spent the next two days kept vigilant eyes over the county's roads.
County Executive Laura Neuman thanked the emergency workers in a press release issued Thursday.
“They are truly unsung heroes committed to serving the citizens of the County. Many employees worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours, and continue to work as we get our roads cleared and back to normal operations," Neuman wrote.
The county's Emergency Operations Center was opened Tuesday, which coordinated with other agencies to respond to the snow storm. At 10 a.m. Wednesday, the storm was deemed over and the EOC resumed normal operations.
Harvey L. Cornwell, Director of the Office of Emergency Management, also issued thanks to his workers.
“The employees throughout the County worked very hard during this storm and I am extremely proud of the job the personnel in the EOC did for the citizens,” Cornwell wrote.
