Teen Stole Guns, Jewelry from 5 Riva Homes, Police Say
The 17-year-old boy is being charged as a juvenile, according to police.

An area teen is facing charges in connection with five burglaries in Riva's Sylvan Shores Community, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
A .22-caliber rifle, a 9 mm handgun, jewelry, electronics and cash are among the items that were stolen in the series of burglaries, which police said took place over a nine-day period. The burglaries occurred both during the day and overnight, and police said residents were home at the time of some of the break-ins.
Southern District detectives discovered that the teen—a 17-year-old that is being charged as a juvenile—walked away from a group home in southern Maryland on on Dec. 30.
Community members reported seeing the teen in the Riva area, and on Jan. 1, detectives uncovered evidence linking the teen to the burglaries. He was located at a home in Baltimore city, with the assistance of Baltimore Police Department and the Anne Arundel County Northern District Tactical Patrol Unit. Police said they took the teen into custody without incident.
Additional evidence linking the teen to the burglaries in the Sylvan Shores Community was found at the home where he was staying in Baltimore. He has been charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft, though police said more charges are possible.
The investigation is ongoing, and the detectives are still looking for the stolen guns and other property. Police are asking anyone with information about these burglaries to call Detective Michael Krok at 410-222-1960.
