Tuesday: Police Torch Run Benefiting Special Olympics to Pass Through Anne Arundel Communities

The run will begin at the Glen Burnie Town Center and pass through Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Severna Park and Arnold, ending in Annapolis.

Maryland law enforcement will host the Anne Arundel County Torch Run this Tuesday, June 7 to benefit Special Olympics of Maryland.

Law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes across the county will run the "Flame of Hope" from the Glen Burnie Town Center to Jonas Green Park in Annapolis in celebration of the 46th annual Special Olympics Maryland Summer Games.

Beginning Monday, June 6, thousands of law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes across the state will run the Flame of Hope hundreds of miles, culminating at the Summer Games Opening Ceremony on Friday, June 10 at Towson University.

Since its inception in 1986, the Maryland Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised more than $27 million for Special Olympics Maryland in support of its mission to provide quality sports training and competition to Maryland’s children and adults with intellectual disabilities.


WHO: More than a 100 law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes and volunteers
WHEN: Tuesday, June 7 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with an anticipated finish of 1 p.m.
WHERE: Beginning at the Glen Burnie Town Center, traveling south on Ritchie Highway through the communities of Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Severna Park, Arnold and Annapolis, ending at Jonas Green Park in Annapolis
