What's Open, Closed On Christmas In Anne Arundel County

Look out for refuse and recycling, government office, and transit schedule changes, among others.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Anne Arundel County government offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday, along with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, county libraries, and more. The winter holiday for the county's schools begins on Dec. 25 and runs through Monday, Jan. 2. You can see the complete Anne Arundel County Public Schools calendar online.

Refuse and recycling will be shifted by one day, so if your normal collection day is on Monday, Dec. 26, then collection will occur on Tuesday. If your normal collection day is on Tuesday, then collection will take place on Wednesday.

The Stanton Center will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 25, and Monday the 26th. The Pip Moyer Recreation Center will close at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve, remain closed on Dec. 25, but open on Monday, Dec. 26.

The Annapolis Transit schedule will also be affected. There will be no service on Sunday, Dec. 25, but buses will operate a Sunday schedule on Monday, Dec. 26. The system will also run a Saturday schedule, no Purple Route, on both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Anne Arundel County Library Closings

All Anne Arundel County libraries are closed Monday, Dec. 25, through Tuesday, Dec. 26, for the holiday. Also, libraries will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1, for New Year's Day.

Annapolis New Year Holiday Changes

Meanwhile, the City of Annapolis government offices will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 1, for the New Year holiday. Like during the Christmas holiday, refuse and recycling will be shifted by one day, so if your normal collection day is on Monday, then collection will occur on Tuesday. If your normal collection day is on Tuesday, then collection will take place on Wednesday.

The Annapolis Transit schedule will also change for the New Year holiday. There will be no service on Sunday, Jan. 1, but city buses will operate a Sunday schedule on Monday, Jan. 2.
