What's Open, Closed In Edgewater On New Year's Weekend

EDGEWATER, MD — The New Year will be a little different this time around. With coronavirus cases spiking, many celebrations were canceled. The one thing locals can count on is a scheduled holiday.

Many government services are already affected by coronavirus closures, but the holiday will shake up their hours more. Here is what's opened and closed around Friday's holiday:

Government Offices: Anne Arundel County government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Courts: Courts are closed Thursday and Friday. Court hours are listed here.

Parks: All parks will be open for their normal hours. Park hours are listed here. This interactive map shows the parks closest to you.

Libraries: All Anne Arundel County Public Library branches will be closed on Friday. They will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Libraries are currently closed for in-person service. They are open for curbside pickup, however. A full list of library hours and contact information is posted here.

Post Offices: Post offices will be closed on Friday.

Trash And Recycling: All landfills and recycling centers will be closed on Thursday and Friday. A schedule of all Anne Arundel County trash and recycling operations is available here.

Trash pickup will have some shakeups. Thursday pickup will continue as scheduled. Friday collection will be pushed to Saturday.

Buses: The County Connector will run on a Sunday schedule this Friday.

All Anne Arundel County buses, including paratransit, will run on Thursday. Fixed routes will operate until 8 p.m., and the South County Call N' Ride will shut down at 4 p.m.

No county buses will run on Friday. They return to a normal schedule on Saturday.

Trains: The MARC train will operate on Thursday, but not on Friday. The Light RailLink will run on both days. All MARC schedules are listed on its website. The Light RailLink's schedule is posted at this link.
