What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2017 In Anne Arundel County

See what's open, or not, on Monday, Sept. 4, in Anne Arundel County. A parade is planned for Sunday, Sept. 3, in Annapolis.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — While many city and Anne Arundel County services, along with schools, are closed or limited for the Labor Day holiday, there’s a parade planned and an art show slated to enjoy in Annapolis. All county courts and offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 4, for the holiday. And the 2017-18 school year begins on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works, Waste Management Services will observe the following curbside collection schedule and facility operating schedule at the Millersville Landfill and Resource Recovery Center and the Northern, Central, and Southern Recycling Centers in observance of the upcoming Labor Day Holiday.

The local Elks Club will host the annual Pre-Labor Day Elks Parade at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3. It begins at Amos Garrett Boulevard and heads down West Street and turns left on Calvert Street. There will be a small reviewing booth on Calvert Street. The parade is expected to last until 5 p.m. and both West and Calvert streets will be closed to traffic.

First Sunday Arts Festival is also being held on West and Calvert Streets on Sunday, Sept. 3, beginning at 11 a.m. The streets and parks on West and Calvert Streets will be filled with artists and music. West Street from Church Circle to Calvert Street will be closed until the event concludes at 5 p.m. For more information, go to www.firstsundayarts.com.

  • Sept. 4 – No Curbside Collection – WMS Facilities Closed
  • Sept. 5 – Curbside Collection Provided to Monday Customers - Facilities Open
  • Sept. 6 – Curbside Collection Provided to Tuesday Customers - Facilities Open

Curbside collections normally scheduled for Monday will occur on Tuesday, and collections normally scheduled for Tuesday will occur on Wednesday. All county facilities will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Annapolis Closings

City of Annapolis government offices will be closed on Monday, September 4, for Labor Day.

Refuse and recycling collection will be affected by moving the collection date by one day. If collection for refuse and recycling is on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday and if collection is on Tuesday, it will be collected on Wednesday. There will be no collection of bulk items or yard waste on Wednesday, September 6th. Anyone with questions about collection dates should call 410-263-7949.
