UPDATED: 31 People Displaced By Apartment Fire In Laurel
Fire units from three counties responded to the scene of an early morning apartment fire in Laurel. Four residents were injured.

UPDATED (Jan. 3, 1:55 p.m.): The Red Cross of the National Capital Region is helping the 23 adults and eight juveniles who were displaced by Friday's early morning apartment fire in the 9100 block of Scott Adam Court in Laurel. The fire remains under investigation, but property damage is estimated at $150,000, according to a tweet from Prince George's County's Fire & EMS Department.
LAUREL, MD -- Units from three counties responded to an early morning fire Friday in Laurel, according to Twitter posts from the Prince George's Fire & EMS Department. Three residents were injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
At about 2:50 a.m. on Jan. 3, units from PGFD, the Montgomery County Fire Department and Howard County Fire and EMS responded to the call of a structure fire in the 9100 block of Scott Adam Court in Laurel. Arriving on the scene, they found a fire showing on all floors of a 3-story garden-style apartment building. Three people were also trapped on a balcony.

A second alarm was sounded, as fire personnel began rescue and fire suppression efforts. The fire was extinguished by 4:20 a.m.
Seven residents were rescued, four of whom were taken to an area hospital. One had life-threatening injuries, two had non-life-threatening injuries and one was sent for evaluation. Three residents refused transport.

No cause of for the fire has been determined yet. Fire investigators remain on the scene. Units from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department were also on the scene.
The fire displaced 12 adults, four juveniles, one dog and two cats.
