  1. Radar indicated six possible tornadoes in southern Delaware and eastern Maryland late Thursday into Friday morning as Tropical Storm Elsa moved into the area, according to the National Weather Service. (The News Journal)
  2. On Thursday, Howard County Council District 3 member Christiana Rigby announced her run for reelection. First elected in 2018, Rigby represents District 3 on the council, which includes the villages of Owen Brown and Kings Contrivance in Columbia, as well as communities in North Laurel, Savage and Jessup. (Baltimore Sun)
  3. When Dark Hollow Farm's David Hayden purchased a bay filly with chipped knees and an uncertain future last year, he got more than just an eventual broodmare. He had found himself another stakes winner, and brought a family member back home. Ellanation's victory in the $75,000 Jameela July 4 at historic Pimlico Race Course was the latest step in a journey that saw the 5-year-old mare change hands three times, twice at auction, before returning to the place she was born and spending more than a year on the sidelines. (Paulick Report)
  4. Jacob’s Ladder, a nonprofit in Prince George’s County, is on a mission to keep at-risk youth out of the juvenile justice system and give them a chance to build generational success. Jarriel Jordan Sr. started the nonprofit, and as a former homicide investigator and teacher, he said he wanted to stop violence before it started. Jacob’s Ladder works to prevent teens from entering or returning to the juvenile justice system through various programs that serve roughly 1,000 youth and their families a year. (WTOP)
