College Park Woman Killed In Laurel Accident: Howard Co. Police

A woman from College Park was hit and killed while walking on a Laurel road; Howard County Police are investigating.

LAUREL, MD — A woman from College Park was hit and killed while walking on a Laurel road Saturday night, according to Howard County Police, who are investigating.

About 5:34 p.m., police were called to Washington Boulevard just north of Maier Road for a report of a vehicle that struck a woman and then left the scene. The victim, Mary Yin Hiong Chee, 58, of College Park, was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead overnight, according to a news release from police.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Chee called police later Saturday night and was located at a nearby hotel along with the vehicle, a 2004 Volkswagen Passat. Investigators believe Chee was walking along the side of the northbound lanes of Washington Boulevard when she was struck.

No charges have been filed at this time and the driver's name has not been released.
