Police Say Couple's Death Could be Love Triangle Gone Wrong

Police say a love triangle may have been part of the motivation in the stabbing of a South Laurel couple in which a man has been charged, The Washington Post reports.

Police say Thurston Lamont Yerby, 47, of Laurel, was romantically involved with Tina Lynn Towler, 45, according to the Post.

In May, police found Towler and her live-in boyfriend, James Vell Ferguson, 42, dead in a Laurel apartment.

A Prince George’s County police spokesperson told the Post that the motive was unclear, but, “We think that the romantic relationship played some sort of involvement in those crimes.”

Yerby was arrested in Washington, D.C., on Thursday; according to the Post. Police said they found weapons – including a knife – and have surveillance video showing his vehicle going to, and leaving the scene of the killing. 

According to court records, Yerby has been charged with first-degree murder. His first hearing is scheduled for Oc.t. 16.
