Jane Anne Curtis, 80, of Laurel

Anne Curtis died on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Cherry Lane Nursing Home in Laurel, MD. She was 80 years old.

Anne was born in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Dennis and Mary Catherine Daly. She attended Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, where she earned a Music Education degree and began a career as a teacher. She taught music for 3 years in North Syracuse. During this period she earned her MS in Elementary Education.

Anne then taught Music and Elementary Education for DOD Schools in Oslo, Norway, returning to Syracuse in 1964. In 1966 she married Army Captain C.E. “Curt” Curtis. Afer his assingments including Fort Lee, Virginia, Heidelberg, Germany, Tobyhanna, PA, Seoul, Korea and the in the Philadelphia area before they came to Fort Meade, Maryland in 1982 and settled in Laurel, Maryland.

Anne was active in the St. Mary’s Sanctuary, the Fort Meade Community Service Organization, the Laurel Senior Friendship Club, and the Retired Officer’s Wives Club.

Anne is survuived by her husband of 49 years, C.E. Curtis and by her son, Curt IV, daughter in law Sandra Lee, grandchildren Logan and Emily Curtis and brother Joh Daly of Diamondhead, Misssissippi and his wife Patricia.

Visitation will take place at the Donaldson Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church in Laurel, MD on Friday, June 19, 2015 beginning at 12:00 PM.
