Here are the top three stories in Laurel today:

1. Pizzeria Paradiso’s mobile pizza oven was stolen last year from the restaurant’s Hyattsville location. Recently, staffers were told by a client that she’d spotted the mobile oven — a bright orange-tiled domed structure — being towed along University Boulevard in Wheaton. That news prompted Pizzeria Paradiso founder and owner Ruth Gresser to put the word out: Help locate the stolen oven and get a pizza party in return. (WTOP)

2. Prince George’s County is launching “Encore” which is a new program for those ages 50 and up to help give them a boost in finding jobs. According to Walter Simmons, president and CEO of Employ Prince George’s, the goal is to ensure that the job seekers who are 50-plus are successful and that they aren’t a statistic. The Encore program will be housed at the American Job Center National Harbor. It’s expected to open in August. (WTOP)

3. Plans are underway for 26 light rail trains, each comprised of five car-shells, to transport passengers on Maryland’s upcoming Purple Line. This will be a 16-mile light-rail line with 21 stations that will extend from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George’s County. However, this project has experienced a series of delays. The Maryland Transit Administration said on its website that its goal is “to open the light rail system as soon as possible.” (WTOP)

• Gardens Ice House Summer Camp – Join this camp for affordable fun! Sports, games, contests, a mobile video game, arts and crafts, team building challenges, and special activities are offered. This camp’s proven curriculum and programming formula allows the instructors to roll through the day weaving high intensity and low impact activities together so that every type of kid has their moment to shine! • Free Acupuncture – Master’s level acupuncture students, under supervision of licensed and experienced faculty, are providing safe and effective auricular treatments. Limit: Six participants per seating to ensure a safe, physically distanced, and peaceful experience. (12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.)
