Karen Cherry Named to Daily Record's Top 100 Women List
The Howard Hughes Corporation VP Honored for Professional, Civic Work

The Howard Hughes Corporation announced today The Daily Record has named Karen Cherry, Vice President, Office Leasing, to its 2017 listing of Maryland’s Top 100 Women. Cherry was honored for her professional accomplishments, community leadership and mentoring.
A record number of 435 women were nominated for the statewide honor. After a preliminary round of judging, a panel of business professionals and past Maryland’s Top 100 Women winners reviewed the final applications and selected this year’s honorees.
Cherry, a commercial real estate broker, is the in-house leasing representative for the company serving as the master plan developer for Downtown Columbia. The Howard Hughes Corporation is revitalizing the nearly 50-year old community’s central core. “I am thrilled to be part an organization that is literally changing the future of a community,” Cherry said.

An active volunteer, Cherry serves on the board of Camp Attaway, which provides camping experience for children with behavioral and emotional disorders. She is also involved with the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and the local SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) and NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties) chapters and serves as the 2015 Class Representative for Leadership Howard County.
In her letter of recommendation for Cherry, Leadership Howard County President and CEO Stacie Hunt noted Cherry’s work mentoring high school students in the Leadership U program as well as her impact on “programmatic improvement that will allow the students to be even more successful.”

In addition to her professional and volunteer work, Cherry is known for her outreach to other women in what is a male-dominated industry. Most recently she successfully helped a woman change careers and prepare for a brokerage position.
In her free time, Cherry trains and participates in triathlons. She is married to photographer Stephen Cherry and the mother of three children.
