Laurel Mayor Declares Snow Emergency March 21

Laurel Mayor Craig A. Moe has declared a Snow Emergency effective at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21.

From the City of Laurel: Based upon National Weather Service forecasts Mayor Craig A. Moe has declared a Snow Emergency for the City of Laurel effective at 9:30am on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

This action is necessary to help keep roads clear to facilitate access to residences and business by emergency personnel and to allow Public Works to treat street surfaces. It will remain in effect until further notice.

During a declared Snow Emergency, parking is prohibited on the Even-numbered Side of designated City Snow Emergency Routes. Remember, Odd is OK!

All other posted parking restrictions remain in effect. Parking is prohibited on both sides of the street along State and County Snow Routes.

Please be aware that cars parked illegally along Snow Emergency Routes and other No Parking Zones can be ticketed, towed and impounded at the owner's expense and risk. If your car is towed, call the Laurel Police Department at 301-498-0092 for release procedures.

Due to deteriorating weather conditions, the city has suspended the collection of commercial refuse and recycling, and residential yard debris and residential special collections for the day-- March 21, 2018.

The affected areas are: the Patuxent Greens neighborhood and the Laurel Lakes condo neighborhood ( The Tiers, Vistas, Bridgeport). Crews will revisit those neighborhood s tomorrow--Thursday, March 22, 2018.

Mayor Moe is reminding residents and businesses that per City Ordinance, all sidewalks or driveways must be shoveled within 12 hours after cessation of snowfall.

Because the snowfall from this storm could be wet, heavy and significant, prepare for possible power outages by charging your mobile devices, bring your pets indoors, check on neighbors and be prepared!
