Laurel Mayor To Run For PG County Council

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Mayor Craig A. Moe, a Laurel resident and member of the Democratic Party, has announced that he will run for Prince George's County Council District 1.

Moe has lived in PG County since 1959 and graduated from Laurel Senior High School in 1977. Moe was re-elected to his fourth term as Mayor of the City of Laurel on Nov. 3, 2015, and was sworn into office on Nov. 6, 2015.

As the Mayor, Moe manages a city that includes Department's of Emergency Management, Finance and Human Resources, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Office of the Fire Marshal and Permit Services, a full-service Police Department and more.

"I am a candidate in this election because I will bring new energy, focus, dedication and perspective on the challenges facing the County Council," Moe said in a statement. "As a proven municipal leader, I have a record of accomplishments, bring people together and getting results to better the community. I pledge to all residents that I will work tirelessly tackling the issues facing our County by working together in partnership with the County Council and community."

Moe says he will focus on youth and seniors; public safety and first responders; creating job opportunities; creating clean, safe and environmentally communities; commitment to excellence in public schools and more.

Prior to his election as Mayor, Moe served six terms on the Laurel City Council. He also served as President of Laurel City Council from March 1996 to March 1998. He was also elected to serve as President of the Maryland Municipal League from 2009 - 2010.
