- On June 29, 2021 at approximately 9:52 p.m. the victim of a carjacking parked in the area of the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road in Laurel. Two suspects jumped out of their vehicle and both pointed handguns at the victim demanding his car keys and wallet. The victim gave them both and the suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle, a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu. The victim was not injured in the incident and was unable to provide a description of the suspects. Western District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700. (Anne Arundel County)
- After Laurel Museum remained closed for 15 months, it is now re-opening! The life-changing events from 2020 had the staff collecting and documenting the historic year to create and add to the museum’s exhibits. Ann Bennett, executive director of Laurel Historical Society, said they now have two big displays: ‘Response to COVID’ and ‘Social Justice in Laurel.’ Handwritten signs, a collection of face masks and many photographs tell the story of Laurel’s past year. - The Bowie Baysox will host the “Star Spangled 4th of July Concert & Fireworks Spectacular” at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Prince George’s Stadium. The event will feature a live concert by DC Fusion and post-concert Independence Day fireworks. Tickets can be ordered online at baysox.com, by calling the ticket office at 301-464-4865 or stopping by between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Friday. (Baltimore Sun)
