Laurel Plans Community Partnership Day With Corvette Parade

The city of Laurel and the Negro League Legends Hall of Fame will hold aCommunity Partnership Day on July 13.

From The City of Laurel: If you like fast, high performance cars, make plans now to view the Corvette Parade in Laurel on Friday, July 13, 2018.

Mayor Craig A. Moe says the City has teamed up with the Negro League Legends Hall of Fame for this first annual Community Partnership Day event.

There will be a brief, pre-race rally at 10:45am at Laurel High School, 8000 Cherry Lane, which is also the starting line. And then 100 of the very best “vettes” will take off for a cruise through Laurel beginning at 11:00am.

The parade will head east on Cherry Lane, turn onto 4th Street, move onto Montgomery Street and will end at McCullough Field. From there, the fun will begin!

Come talk with the owners about their special vehicles, listen to musical entertainment by Marvillous Beats, an electric violinist, and enjoy a quick lunch from one of the food trucks in the parking lot at 8th and Montgomery Street.

Travelers through Laurel will need to be aware that streets will be temporarily closed along the route to accommodate the parade participants, so avoid the areas of Cherry Lane, 4th Street and Montgomery Street from 10:00am - 1:00pm and 8thStreet will be closed from 10:00am - 3:00pm for the Community Partnership festivities at McCullough Field on July 13th.

All proceeds will benefit the NLLHOF Community Outreach Program.
