1. Laurel resident Juliette Whittaker, age 17, competed at the U.S. Olympic trials in the 800-meter race at the end of June and she qualified with a personal-best performance at a national high school indoor meet in January. For her commitment and excellence in running and her breakthrough at the national level, Whittaker has been selected as The Baltimore Sun’s 2020-21 High School Girls Athlete of the Year. 2. Fort George G. Meade has fully implemented all 18 elements of the Tenant Bill of Rights for residents living in housing managed and maintained by Corvias, the installation’s housing partner. The U.S. Army announced it had completed implementation of the Department of Defense’s Tenant Bill of Rights, which was adopted following the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020. 3. A woman is dead and two other people are hurt after a car ran off the Capital Beltway on Sunday morning, Maryland State Police said. The crash happened just after 3:30 a.m. on the Outer Loop near Route 4 in Forestville. The police investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. (WTOP)
