Man Struck and Killed by CSX Train in Laurel

Police and fire officials arrived at the scene to find the 25-year-old man dead on the tracks.

A 25-year-old man was fatally struck by a CSX train in Laurel early Monday morning.

Police officers and fire officials arrived at the scene just before 1 a.m. in the area of Lafayette Avenue and Bowie Road.

The man, whose name has not been released, was found on the tracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body has been taken by the medical examiner for an autopsy.

CSX officials told police the 80-car train was traveling from Baltimore and heading to Pennsylvania at the time, and was empty.
