Pedestrian Struck, Killed near Whiskey Bottom Road
A man died on Thursday from his injuries after being struck by a vehicle, according to police.

LAUREL, MD- A man died on Thursday from his injuries after being struck by a car, according to police.
Johnny Ray Wines, 56, was trying to cross the street when a Hyundai Elantra — traveling southbound on Route 1 near Whiskey Bottom Road — hit him, police said.

At approximately 7:47 p.m. Wednesday, Howard County police responded to a report of a pedestrian accident.
Officials said Wines was immediately taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he later died.

The 60 year-old driver of the vehicle, Gennadiy Lotkin, and a six-month-old passenger were not injured.
The roadway where the accident happened was closed for nearly an hour while police investigated, according to police.
The fatal crash is under investigation.
