Prepare This Weekend For Hurricane To Move Into Laurel

LAUREL, MD - From the City of Laurel: There is a possibility that Hurricane Florence will impact our area on Monday or Tuesday, September 17th or 18th—bringing us bouts of heavy rain and a high probability for fresh water flooding.

Mayor Craig A. Moe is encouraging everyone to use the weekend to prepare for the storm.

Residents and business owners in flood prone areas should take proper precautions for the protection of their families and property.

Plan and Take Action- Prepare for the unexpected.

• Develop an Emergency Plan for your family and for your pets.
• Put together a basic disaster supplies kit (water, change of clothes, snacks, flashlight, etc.).

preparations when alerted by emergency officials:

•  Empty refuse and recycling containers can get caught up in heavy rain runoff. Follow the City Ordinance and remove your containers from the public right-of-way.
• Refuse and recycling containers should be placed on the side of the houses. HOAs should check their common areas for special collection items and remove if possible.

•  We strong suggest using a reusable container (trash can – NOT recycling container) for yard debris.
•  Remember, the City doesn’t collect plastic bags anymore.


