Soldier From Laurel Injured In Army Training Accident
A Laurel soldier was among those injured in an Army training accident that killed two others, officials said

LAUREL, MD — A soldier from Laurel was among six injured, while two others were killed, when a vehicle struck a group of soldiers in formation at Fort Jackson, the Army said Saturday. The injured Maryland soldier is Pvt. Cardre Jackson Jr. of Laurel.
The soldiers killed are Pvt. Ethan Shrader of Prospect, Tennessee, and Pvt. Timothy Ashcraft of Cincinnati, Ohio. Other soldiers injured are Pvt. Benjamin Key of Livingston, Tennessee, Pvt. Alan Kryszak of Clarksville, Tennessee, Pvt. Emmett Foreman from Daleville, Alabama; Pvt. Hannah New of Cartersville, Georgia, and Pvt. James Foster of Macon, Georgia.

"We are continuing to support everyone affected by this tragic event," said U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson Commander Maj. Gen. Pete Johnson. "I am very appreciative for all the exceptional support from the Columbia medical community. We also appreciate the outpouring of support. Please keep the Family members, injured Soldiers and our fellow teammates affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers."
Fort Jackson is the Army's largest basic training facility, with 50,000 recruits reporting there annually. The Army did not say exactly how the accident happened or what kind of vehicle was involved.
