The officers and civilian employees who were recognized continuously go above and beyond the call of duty to serve the City of Laurel. 2. Four star athletes from Laurel played baseball for the Salisbury Seagulls and won the Coast to Coast Athletic Conference National Championship. Clayton Dwyer and Cameron Hyder, from West Laurel and former Bond Mill Elementary students, as well as Benji Thalheimer and Zach Geesaman, also from Laurel, helped their team pull off its first Maryland NCAA college baseball win in a national championship. 3. Children 12 to 18 years old in Prince George’s County can now register for the Alsobrooks Summer Passport Experience that offers programs that are centered on what the county calls the “3 E’s: Education, Experience/Entertainment and Entrepreneurship.” County Executive Angela Alsobrooks said many children in the county have suffered during the pandemic because they were isolated from their friends and indoors often, unable to engage in ways the normal young people do. This situation has led some youth to make poor decisions. However, this program that is open to around 1,300 young people, will be fun and it will help youth get back on track . (WTOP)
