Turkey Fryer Fire Tackled In Anne Arundel County
Fire officials warn residents that turkey fryers present risks of burns and property damages.

MARYLAND CITY, MD—A turkey fryer started a fire in Maryland City on Thanksgiving, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
The fire happened on a deck in the 8100 block of Pennington Drive. The fire had been extinguished when firefighters arrived. There were no injuries.
Ahead of Thanksgiving, the fire department warned residents of the hazards the hot oil from turkey fryers present. The National Fire Protection Association recommends the outdoor, gas-fueled turkey fryers not be used to prepare Thanksgiving dinner due to risks of burns, other injuries and property damage.

Since 1998, 216 fire or burn incidents related to turkey fryers have been recorded by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. These turkey fryer incidents injured 81 people and caused $9.7 million in property loss.
