Undercover Prostitution Sting Nets 8 Arrests In Laurel: Police

LAUREL, MD — An undercover operation to deter prostitution and human trafficking recently resulted in the arrest of eight men, according to the Howard County Police Department. The sting took place at a hotel in the 10100 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel.

Detectives placed fake ads on websites that they allege are used for prostitution. Those calling the number in the ad spoke with an undercover officer who provided a meeting location upon request, according to officials.

The men were arrested after they arrived and offered money for sex acts on Thursday, Jan. 17, according to authorities.

Police said these men were charged:

• Edilberto Vazquez-Domingu, 32, of Laurel
• Jose Sorto-Montiel, 30, of Laurel
• [Redacted], 52, of Bowie
• Nathan Kaiser, 35, of Columbia
• Julio Roque-Garcia, 36 of Hyattsville
• Junior A. Orellana-Leiva, 21, no fixed address
• Deanthony Colvin, 28, of Frederick
• Trung Nyugen, 33, of Glen Burnie

"This operation is part of Howard County’s ongoing effort to combat prostitution, human trafficking and related offenses and aids in making the county an unappealing place for traffickers and johns," the Howard County Police Department said in a statement on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Anyone who thinks that they are or know someone who is a victim is asked to call 911 or 410-313-3200 to speak with a detective. People may also submit tips by calling the tip line at 410-290-3784 or emailing hcpdcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.
