127 New COVID-19 Cases, 4 More Deaths Reported In Montgomery Co.

Since its outbreak emerged in March 2020, Montgomery County has reported 66,831​​ COVID-19 infections and 1,430 deaths.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County registered 127 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, as well as four more deaths associated with the virus.

The latest additions push the total number of confirmed cases and deaths in the county to 66,831 and 1,430, respectively.

The official fatality count does not include the 46 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 78,242, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 412,928 cases, 8,118 confirmed deaths, and 185 "probable deaths." Of the 1,013 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 236 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Thursday, Maryland has administered 2,760,176 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,754,969 were first doses and 927,851 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 341,758 residents (32.5 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 185,768 residents (17.7 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
