2 Cats Die In Silver Spring House Fire, Officials Say
Two cats died in a house fire on Mississippi Avenue in Silver Spring Tuesday morning, officials said. The homeowner safely escaped.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two cats died in a house fire on Mississippi Avenue in Silver Spring Tuesday morning, officials said.
The fire was reported in the upstairs bedroom of a home in the 500 block of Mississippi Avenue around 5:45 a.m.
An elderly woman was home at the time, but she was able to escape before firefighters arrived, officials said. She was not injured.

Two cats died in the blaze and were found upstairs.
Officials said they believe the fire was started by a space heater. There were no working fire alarms inside the home.
