Bring Your Kids To Janet's Planet: A Tour Through the Solar System

Janet's Planet is a popular PBS show, and Janet Ivey has won multiple Emmy Regional Awards.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Are your kids interested in learning more about the solar system? Travel at the "speed of thought" at Janet's Planet: A Tour Through the Solar System and Workshop Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center.

"As a STEM/STEAM educator, I believe that we must teach science as the greatest adventure story of all time; and allow and inspire students to dream beyond their house, their town, and their own Earthbound experience,” Ivey said.

Ivey is introducing the wonders of the galaxy to families and young audiences throughout the country, and now Montgomery County. Fans will get a virtual tour around the solar system from Janet’s futuristic Mission Control.

This interactive presentation is shown on 144 public television stations nationwide, and is designed to inspire STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) potential in elementary school-aged kids.

Janet Ivey stars in "Janet's Planet," an American educational children's television show on PBS. She's won 12 Regional Emmy Awards and 5 Gracie Allen Awards.

Following the performance there will be a Design and Build Your Own Space Craft Workshop.

Tickets for the presentation are $10 for Montgomery County students and $15 for non-students. Tickets for the workshop are $10. You can purchase tickets here.

The show will begin at 2 p.m. and the workshop will be at 3:15 p.m.
