Comcast Xfinity LGBT Film & TV Collection to Showcase Area Filmmaker's Documentary

Silver Spring filmmaker Joan Biren chronicles the love of a LGBT pioneering couple over half a century.

From Luna+Eisenla: An internationally acclaimed filmmaker from Silver Spring, Joan Biren, has had her award-winning 2003 documentary about Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon selected to be showcased on a national cable platform: Comcast Xfinity LGBT Film & TV Collection. Joan’s film, No Secret Anymore: The Times of Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon, which she directed, is a documentary that chronicles the love of a LGBT pioneering couple over half a century, tracing their experience from fear to equality during that time. In fact, the Equality Forum has previously celebrated Joan, naming her an LGBT icon. Frameline Distribution, a distributor of LGBTQ film, distributed the film.

The Xfinity LGBT Film & TV Collection, which was launched in June of this year, is an LGBT-community driven library of over 500+ shows and movies featuring LGBT characters and storylines. With its new LGBT Film & TV Collection, Comcast provides a home for some of our community’s most important and unique stories. Joan’s film is available to all XFINITY TV subscribers On Demand or online and is currently be featured as one of the “Frameline Presents: LGBT Films” on the homepage of the site.
