County Officials Warn Against Using Fireworks This Fourth of July
Fireworks, including sparklers, are illegal in Maryland. MOCO officials are warning residents against using them to celebrate this weekend.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — There are plenty of ways to celebrate the Fourth of July this weekend, but if you're in Maryland setting off your own fireworks isn't one of them.
All fireworks, including sparklers, are illegal in the state. Maryland classifies fireworks as "any firecracker, skyrocket, or Roman candle." The fine for possessing or using fireworks or sparklers in the state is $500, and the fine for selling fireworks in Maryland is $1,000.
In Montgomery County, snap-and-pop noise makers, snakes and party poppers are exceptions to the law.
