Damaged Support Beam Closes Talbot Avenue Bridge To Pedestrians

The Talbot Avenue bridge, which spans the CSX tracks in Silver Spring, is closed to pedestrians after crews found a damaged support beam.

SILVER SPRING, MD — The Talbot Avenue bridge is closed to pedestrian traffic after a routine inspection Wednesday uncovered a damaged support beam, Montgomery County officials said.

The 100-year-old Talbot Avenue bridge carries vehicles and pedestrians over the CSX railroad tracks in Silver Spring.

It is unclear when the Montgomery County Department of Transportation will reopen the bridge. However, transportation officials said they will reopen the bridge once they get the green light from CSX. Until then, MCDOT will be working with CSX to create a plan to repair it.
