Flash Flood Watch Issued For Parts Of Montgomery County

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for parts of Montgomery County.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for a portion of Montgomery County until 8 p.m. on Thursday. The National Weather Service issues the alert when rainy conditions has the potential to trigger flash flooding.

"Showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy rain across the area, especially near and along the Interstate 95 corridor. Rainfall amounts will average one to three inches, with locally higher amounts possible," the National Weather Service said. "Heavy rainfall may result in rapid rises of water in small creeks and streams, as well as the potential for flash flooding in urban and poor drainage areas."

Affected areas include: Silver Spring; Rockville; Bethesda, Gaithersburg; College Park; Greenbelt; Columbia; Chesapeake Beach; Severna Park; Baltimore; California; Greenbelt; Arnold; North Beach; Waldorf; Suitland-Silver Hill; and Annapolis.
