Here's How Much Rainfall Silver Spring Got This Weekend
Lots of rain fell on the Silver Spring area this weekend, and another flood watch has been issued for Monday.

SILVER SPRING, MD — You don't need forecasters to tell you this weekend was a wet one for Silver Spring and the rest of the DC area. But if you're curious, the National Weather Service has rounded up rainfall totals for the deluge-like weather on Saturday, July 21.
Preliminary numbers from trained National Weather Service spotters show two to seven inches fell in locations around the DC area. Some of the highest rainfall totals occurred in Burke (7.15 inches) and Ripley, Md. (7 inches).
The Silver Spring area was in the mid range with about 3.85 inches.

Don't expect the rain to let up after this weekend's performance. The NWS forecast calls for showers and possible thunderstorms every day for the remainder of the week. Silver Spring and other parts of the region are under a flash flood watch until Tuesday.

Forecasters expect multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon to the evening. Already saturated grounds and high stream levels from recent rainfall combined with new rainfall could lead to flash flooding. The risk of flash flooding could continue through Wednesday and perhaps beyond.
