MoCo Fully Vaccinates 10% Of Residents; Adds 126 Cases Overnight

As of Thursday, 10% of Montgomery County residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Health officials also added 126 new cases.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County registered 126 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, as well as two more deaths associated with the virus.

The latest additions push the total number of confirmed cases and deaths in the county to 64,399 and 1,392, respectively.

The official fatality count does not include the 45 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 74,851, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 390,490 cases, 7,832 confirmed deaths, and 182 "probable deaths." Of the 788 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 209 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Thursday, Maryland has administered 1,736,455 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,096,241 were first doses and 598,647 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 207,559 residents (19.7 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 105,236 residents (10 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
