Over 300 Without Water Service, Roads Flooded After Water Break
Water flooded a Silver Spring intersection for several hours as crews rushed to repair a main water break on Sunday.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Traffic was disrupted and more than 300 Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission customers were affected by a main water break Sunday in Silver Spring, according to authorities.
WSSC crews responded to the incident at the intersection of Connecticut and Georgia avenues shortly before noon. The company provides the majority of safe drinking water and sewage services to Montgomery County.
WSSC shut down parts of Georgia Avenue at Connecticut Avenue as crews rushed to repair the break. Water flooded the intersection for several hours.

In a message on Twitter, WSSC said crews shut down the valve shortly before 3 p.m.
Crews have completely shutdown the valve on the to broken water main at intersection of Connecticut & Georgia. More than 300 customers are impacted. We appreciate your patience as repairs are made. pic.twitter.com/WE1mgh16yl

The company has set up a water station for customers impacted by the water main repairs. WSSC said crews will be at Harmony Hills Elementary School in Silver Spring until midnight.
