A Silver Spring woman is searching for her dog that ran away after a car accident near Veirs Mill Park.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring woman is searching for her dog that ran away after a car accident near Veirs Mill Park.

The dog is a German Shepard mix and is wearing a blue harness with a grey collar.

She was last seen Sunday near Veirs Mill Park at 4425 Garrett Park Rd.

Anyone who sees this dog is asked to keep in mind the following tips:

  • Use slow movements
  • Don't approach the dog, let them approach you.
  • Never approach in a straight line, turn your body to an angle.
  • Don't look directly at the lost dog.
  • Sit or lie down on the ground and pretend to sniff the ground.
  • Lure with food if possible.
  • Speak softly, never call out or whistle.
  • If you are not able to lure the dog, watch and follow from a distance and call authorities to help keep the dog safe.
