Pointe View at Aspen Hill Goes Beyond Typical Senior Living

Silver Spring's new senior community promotes comfortable, independent living

For many seniors, finding a residential community where they can live safely, comfortably, and freely is a top priority. Factors such as location, apartment layout, supportive services, and amenities all play an important role as seniors look for a new home to comfortably live in. Located in a peaceful, wooded setting in Silver Spring, Maryland, Pointe View at Aspen Hill offers individuals 62 and older the opportunity to enjoy an independent lifestyle in a beautiful, thoughtfully designed community tailored to their individual needs.

Dyanne Smith and her sister Joan Bennett were in the process of looking for an apartment together when they came across Pointe View at Aspen Hill. “We actually were scheduled to visit a different residential building, but we put in the wrong address and landed at Pointe View at Aspen Hill. We ended up touring and really loving the apartment and amenities,” said Dyanne. “It just goes to show how life leads you to where you’re supposed to be.”

At the top of Dyanne and Joan’s list when looking for a new home was location – and specifically easy access to public transportation. Neither sister has a car, but living at Pointe View at Aspen Hill would put them near the Montgomery County Transit Ride-On and WMATA bus, which allows them to safely get to the supermarket, doctor’s appointments, Montgomery County’s largest senior center, and other shops and restaurants.

However, location is just one important factor to consider. During resident Stephlyn Taylor’s apartment hunt, she was looking for a unit with lots of space and storage. When she toured Pointe View at Aspen Hill, she was immediately impressed with the layout of her one-bedroom apartment.

“Most apartments I’ve lived in and senior communities I’ve toured do not have enough space to live comfortably, which is very important to me,” noted Stephlyn. “The layout and design of my apartment is so spacious and thoughtful. This is the perfect spot for seniors!”

In Stephlyn’s one-bedroom home, she enjoys having a big kitchen to cook in as well as a spacious walk-in closet that meets her storage needs. Pointe View at Aspen Hill features 120 one- and two-bedroom affordable apartments. Each unit includes a modern kitchen with dishwasher, central heating and air, and contemporary finishes such as ceiling fans, hardwood floors, and spacious ceramic tiled baths.

Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Dyanne and Joan enjoyed using community amenities such as the fitness center and community room. Stephlyn loved getting to know her neighbors better through weekly resident activities and weekend happy hours organized by on-site staff. All three residents look forward to accessing these community amenities, as well as the on-site hair salon and business center once it’s safe to lift social distancing guidelines.

In addition to on-site amenities, Pennrose has partnered with The Senior Connection to provide residents with a variety of programs and resources to help them maintain and prolong their ability to live independently. From grocery assistance to help with bills and other household paperwork, these services paired with communication from management staff about the pandemic have been especially helpful to residents during this stressful time.

One- and two-bedroom units at Pointe View at Aspen Hill are now leasing for summer 2020. More information about the community and leasing can be found here.
