Police are actively searching for two suspects who are allegedly involved in a shooting that killed a Montgomery Blair High School student.
HYATTSVILLE, MD — Police are actively searching and obtained arrest warrants for two men wanted in a fatal shooting that killed a 16-year-old student from Silver Spring Monday evening.
The victim, Kevin Wilson Jr., was shot and killed in a parking lot in Hyattsville, police said. He was a star football player and was about to start his junior year at Montgomery Blair High School.
Officers responded to the 6700 block of New Hampshire Ave. at about 7:05 p.m. Wilson was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to the hospital and died there a few hours later.

"Investigators continue to work to establish a motive for the fatal shooting," a Prince George's County Police Department statement says. "Detectives believe Williams may be injured and may attempt to seek medical attention."
Detectives believe this was not a random crime and are "following strong leads in this case."
Montgomery Blair High School's principal, Renay Johnson, sent a letter to the school community on Wednesday.
“For those of you who knew Kevin, we ask that you remember and celebrate his life,” Johnson wrote. “For those of you who did not know him, we ask that you respect and support his family at this time.”
NBC Washington reports Wilson was a talented football player and was the captain of the Maryland Seahawks traveling football team two years ago.
"Just a great young man, high spirits. Always made you laugh," Jarvis Thomas, Wilson's former football coach, told NBC. "That's one thing I can say about Kevin; he always had us laughing."
Thomas said Wilson was "basically one of the star players on the team."
Principal Johnson said school psychologists and counselors are available in the school's counseling office to meet with students and staff over the next two weeks.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to collect funds for Wilson's funeral.
"Kevin II., touched all that he knew with his infectious personality and sense of humor. Loved not only by family, but all that of his coaches and friends just the same," the GoFundMe page says.
