Saturday Snow In Silver Spring Update: Several Inches Possible

But we could also get absolutely nothing, which appears to be a theme this winter.

SILVER SPRING, MD — As we inch closer to the weekend, forecasts are starting to get a little clearer. Right now, there's a possibility that we get several inches of snow on Saturday, forecasters say, but there is still a lot of uncertainty.

We already know that Saturday will be a cloudy one, with precipitation expected in the late afternoon and into the evening. The question is whether temperatures will remain low enough, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.

"A weaker storm and/or one tracking too far north and west would favor rain or a mix of precipitation, and probably not much snow or ice accumulation," they say. "But, if the storm tracks just to our south and is strong enough, and the cold air holds in place, several inches of snow would be possible."

Highs are expected to be in the 30s to lower 40s on Saturday, and then dip into the upper 20s to low 30s overnight. We'll just have to wait and see if it will be light rain, ice, or snow.

So what about President's Day? Well, it's not going to be a beautiful day with clouds and possibly some showers late in the day, but at least temperatures will be fairly warm in the 50s.
