SILVER SPRING, MD — The Kmart in Aspen Hill and the Sears in White Oak are closing their doors for good.

Kmart — a nationwide retailer of clothing, furniture, electronics, and toys — announced the closure on its Facebook page.

"We were gearing up to bring you another season of Kmart fun, but unfortunately that was not in the cards for us this go around," the post read. "We love sharing our store with you, but this post comes with a heavy heart."

Kmart, located at 14014 Connecticut Ave., said it will be closing its doors in mid-April.

The Sears at 11255 New Hampshire Ave. is one of 10 department store locations to be closed by parent firm Transformco, according to Forbes. The news outlet said Sears opened in Silver Spring in 1966.
