SILVER SPRING, MD — Downtown Silver Spring will shut down a portion of Georgia Avenue to accommodate outdoor dining during the coronavirus crisis.
The neighborhood's pilot program, called "Silver Spring Streetdine," kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. To allow for socially distanced sidewalk seating, north and southbound Georgia Avenue — from Silver Spring to Thayer avenues — will be closed to vehicular traffic.
The pilot program is scheduled to run through June 21, at which time it will be reevaluated.
