Silver Spring Hosts 'UnNaugural' Concert
Grammy-nominated 'Sweet Honey in the Rock' will headline a concert on Jan. 20, 2017. Tickets are on sale.

From Unnaugural: Grammy-nominated "Sweet Honey in the Rock" will headline a concert on January 20, 2017 in Silver Spring, Maryland to raise funds for progressive advocacy groups threatened by the incoming Administration.
"Progressive activists are dreading Inauguration Day," said Executive Producer (and Maryland State Senator) Cheryl Kagan. "Folks are looking for something positive and uplifting to do that night. The UnNaugural concert will raise funds for five of the issue areas likely to be among the most threatened in the coming four years."
Profits from the event will be donated to five national advocacy organizations: the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the National LGBTQ Task Force, and Planned Parenthood.
The concert will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Metro-accessible, 500-seat Cultural Arts Center at Montgomery College (7995 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland). Free parking is available.
Concert organizers chose the name "UnNaugural" as a way to differentiate this event from the official presidential inaugural events being held the same night. The concert will help kick off a weekend of gathering on behalf of progressive causes as countless women and men come to the DC-area for the Women's March the following day, January 21st.
