Silver Spring ‘March Madness’ Tourney Includes Kids, Cops, Firefighters

The Montgomery County Police Community will sponsor a basketball tournament at Montgomery Blair High School Thursday.

SILVER SPRING, MD — The Montgomery County Police Community Engagement Team will sponsor the second annual Honoring Our Outstanding Protectors and Students (H.O.O.P.S.) free basketball tournament at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring Thursday.

The free 5-on-5 basketball tournament will feature 16 teams made up of Montgomery County Police officers, Montgomery Blair High School students and faculty members, and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel.

The "local March Madness" tournament will begin at 4 p.m.

Before the tournament at 3 p.m., a Montgomery County Police K9 demonstration will be held at 3 p.m. A police motorcycle demonstration will also take place outside of the high school.

Everyone is invited to enjoy all of the demonstrations and watch the basketball competition.
