Silver Spring Things To Do: Ellsworth Dog Park Opening, Bridal Showcase, Hometown Get Down Music Fest

SILVER SPRING, MD — Here are some of the theater productions, live music performances and other weekend activities happening Sept. 24-25, courtesy of the MyMCMedia.org calendar:
Saturday, September 24:
- The 9th Annual Hometown Get Down Music Festival takes place in Clarksburg to benefit the Bernie House, a transitional housing program for victims of domestic violence.
- The DC Metro Aviation Services Annual Open House takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Montgomery County Airpark. Family friendly activities include kids arts and crafts, remote control aircraft demonstration, Cessna 172 airplane rides, live music and more.
- The Teddy Bear Clinic is open today at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring from 10 a.m. to noon. Perfect for children PreK to 2nd grade.
- The grand opening of the Ellsworth Dog Park takes place at 11 a.m. MyMCMedia’s Phyllis Armstrong visited earlier this year and shares this video report.
- Olney Theatre presents The Diary of Anne Frank at 1:45 and 7:45 p.m.
- The 7th Annual PanAfrican Cultural Festival will be held at the Plaza of the Silver Spring Civic Center from noon to 9 p.m.
- Landless Theatre Company in partnership with Arts on the Green present the The Mystery of Edwin Drood at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 8 p.m.

- Glen Echo Park celebrates its past and present at the Then & Wowevent from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take a final ride on the historic Dentzel Carousel before it closes for the 2016 season.
- Kentlands Mansion hosts the Fall Bridal Showcase from noon to 4 p.m. Plan a dream wedding.
- Montgomery County hosts a picnic at Wheaton Regional Park from 1 to 5 p.m. to bring together communities with diverse cultures and faiths. Food and drink are provided, but please bring a non-perishable food donation to local Montgomery County food banks. Register here.
- Olney Theatre presents The Diary of Anne Frank at 1:45 p.m.
