Thank you to the Montgomery County Police

14 year old stopped while walking to his grandparent's house for the first time.

Thank you to the Montgomery County Police Department for stopping my 14 year old African American 5’3 son while walking to his grandparents house for the first time. This happened in the Tamarack Triangle neighborhood where I grew up and my parents have lived for over 30 years. Trying to show his independence and now it’s ruined. Thank you for questioning my all Honors classes with As and Bs African American son who plays football and basketball while keeping his grades up. Who maintains his type 1 diabetes every day, giving himself 5 insulin shots a day. Thank you to the police officer for not caring how stopping him will impact his health and the rest of his life. Thank you for asking him where he is going, telling him to take his hands out of his pockets and having a police dog stand next to him while asking a white couple is this him. Only after this white couple says no do you let him go even after he told you his grandmother lives right up the hill. Thank you to the ignorant person who answered the phone when I called the police department to file a complaint when her reply was well he is 14 and 14 year olds break into homes and smoke weed. Anyone that knows my son knows he is the quietest most gentle kid you will ever meet. Thank you to the Montgomery County police for taking the innocence of being able to walk to your grandmother’s house away. So for all those ignorant people that think a black kid that was pulled over, stopped, or killed by a police officer had to be doing something wrong, THINK AGAIN. Lord only knows what could have happened if that WHITE couple said yes that’s him. Lord!
